The shiver that curled down Klaus' spine had less to do with the ever-present chill of his new companion's body and more to do with the timbre of his voice, though the suggestions definitely played a factor as well. He hummed, low and considering in the back of his throat as he tilted his head up just far enough to half-nuzzle along the line of Mal's jaw, a slow slide of his nose against the angle of it moving towards Mal's ear so he could be heard in turn when he replied: "Well if you're paying it's dealer's choice."

He pressed just a little closer himself, still relaxed, letting his head rest comfortably against Mal's shoulder, "Though I won't need a medley, just good weed and better alcohol will lead to a real nice cross-fade, perfect state for exploring." He knew himself well enough to know that, at least, and more than that he didn't want to completely fry his short-term memory, he had a feeling he was actually going to want to remember this. Mostly because he was pretty sure Mal would make it memorable, and an accidental OD -even if he did spring right back a few minutes later- would definitely put a damper on things.

It was more than a half hour, but less than 45 minutes later that Klaus arrived, far from sober, but likewise far from completely off his tits. He was coherent at least, and not behaving erratically, aside from the arrhythmic staccato rattle as he knocked on the door.

His clothes were clean and he'd definitely showered within the last day or two, and had a bag from the minimart swinging from his elbow. It contained three bottles of gatorade in varying colors (because he knew he was going to need them before the night was through and probably the following morning) a double-dose pack of migraine-formula painkiller (something else he was probably going to need) a three pound bag of swedish fish (because they'd sounded like a good idea) and a hot pink rectangular pool float (to be used as an air mattress if needed).

In other words, he'd come considerably more prepared than he usually did, sort of.

Old Reginald was one of the originators of the Jaeger tech, specifically the neural handshake upgrades, and figured if the PPDC wasn't going to do enough to protect the world at large, it was up to him.

Which led to his collecting a half-dozen children orphaned by the Kaiju and setting up his own Shatterdome to train them. His intent had always been to make it so that any of them could co-pilot with any other, but even then, certain groupings always tested better than others, and as the children grew, those pairings and clusters shifted as well, though not as much as Reginald had predicted they would.

When the news came of a three-person Jaeger in development for deployment from the Hong Kong Shatterdome, Reginald had changed his way of thinking, at least a little bit, which was when Two, Four and Six -the three with fairly equally strong bonds between each other- started training as a unit.

It was after a particularly grueling session, that Klaus was debating just staying submerged in the bathtub forever, not realizing that the remnants of the neural handshake still left from just how long they'd been in the simulation, would likely be enough for the other two to pick up on and easily misinterpret.
